Natural migraine cure

For chronic migraine sufferers, just easing the ache and stretching out the pain-free periods would be a vast improvement. That's what happened when 32 men and women who averaged between two and eight migraines a month began taking 3 mg of melatonin a day (considered a safe dose). By the end of the third month, eight had no headaches at all and 24 had cut the frequency in half. On a 0 to 10 pain scale, melatonin takers rated their headaches at 3.6--down from 7.4 at the start--and escaped from the migraines' grasp after an average of 9 hours instead of the usual 20. Previous studies showed that people with migraines tend to have naturally lower melatonin levels, but this was the first to show that taking the hormone prevented the headaches.
