Abstract:The article examines the role of nutrition in acne among adolescents. Acne prevalence differs between populations and is low in non-Westernized societies consuming traditional diets. A common feature of traditional diets is low glycemic load. High-glycemic-load diets have been implicated in acne etiology due to their ability to affect insulin demand, androgen bioavailability and insulin-like growth factor-I activity.
