Two new studies support zinc supplements for ADHD, with and without Ritalin

Abstract:Researchers in Turkey conducted a trial with 328 boys and 72 girls and assigned them to a placebo or treatment group or treatment group for 12 weeks. The treatment group received zinc Sulphate. Symptoms were assessed with the Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Scale (ADHDS), Conners Teacher Questionnaire and Du Paul Parent Ratings of ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) Zinc Sulphate was significantly superior to placebo in reducing hyperactive, impulsive and impaired socialization symptoms. Based on additional information, the authors concluded that the treatment should be considered for older ADHD children.
