Abstract:The article provides information on the underlying causative factors of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), along with an overview on its symptoms and treatment. It has been emphasized that IBS is not a disease, it is a functional disorder which means that the bowel failed to function correctly. Its symptoms include abdominal pain or cramping, bloating, gas, diarrhoea and constipation. IBS affects several parts of the digestive tract that stores stool.
