Abstract:The article discusses the differential diagnosis between inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Upon analysis, fecal lactoferrin and fecal lysozyme is detected to be elevated in IBD but not in IBS. Even though IBD and IBS share some common symptoms, IBD is a much more serious disease that requires right diagnosis as well as chronic therapy.
