Got lupus? Fish can help

Lupus, one of the few arthritis-related diseases to strike adults under age 40 (mostly women), is also one of those mysterious autoimmune diseases that experts aren't sure how to treat. Now, a small Irish study has shown that fish oil may help. Nearly half of 27 women who took a 3-g capsule every day for 6 months got relief from facial rashes, fatigue, and joint pain. Lupus symptoms didn't improve or got worse in 69% of a comparison group of 13 women who took look-alike capsules. Prevention advisor Andrew Weil, MD, recommends Nordic Naturals.
